Built by Parents and Coaches, for Parents and Coaches
Finally, there is a reliable tool that coordinates between concurrent baseball or softball teams so you can ensure your pitchers receive enough rest. It’s called ChangeUp, and it’s a mobile app available on Apple devices.
Overuse injuries among pitchers—from Little League to college—are climbing at an alarming rate. The incidence of elbow and shoulder injury in youth baseball has been estimated at 26% to 35% in any given season! Players are competing year-round on multiple teams and their arms never receive an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate.
The challenge for coaches and parents: It’s far too difficult to coordinate pitching outings and track cumulative pitch loads.
As a result, even the youngest players are being pushed to their limits.
Our Story
The concept of ChangeUp was born in 2012 when co-founders Drew Tripp and Jeremy Coffey were both the coaches and parents of young pitchers who were playing on multiple baseball teams.

One of the few heated discussions Jeremy and I have ever had was about a multi-team player’s pitch load.
Drew Tripp

As parents, those days were filled with rushing from ballpark to ballpark, with only minutes to spare before their kids took the field again. As coaches, they were leading a range of kids— some who had just left another baseball game—and juggling giving their team the best chance to win and player safety.
They experienced first-hand the fears of pitching overuse injuries in their own kids—and the challenges of tracking all their pitchers to comply with regulations. That’s when they started planning a solution that would simplify pitch load counting and reporting, prevent overuse injuries and support player development. In 2020, ChangeUp hit the market.
