I have players that pitch for multiple teams – how does that work?
Great question, and accounting for the challenges introduced by this common scenario was one of the primary reasons ChangeUp was created. ChangeUp keeps track of all appearances a pitcher makes, regardless of team, and calculates & displays the required days of rest accordingly (using the rules specific to the applicable team or league). Whether or not a team, league, or tournament elects to enforce rest restrictions mandated by outside organizations is configurable within ChangeUp.
Do coaches have to enter pitch counts themselves?
Coaches certainly can be the ones keeping track of pitch counts, however they can also easily designate someone else to do so on their behalf by inviting someone to do so from within ChangeUp. And yes, each team can have more than one person designated as a pitch count tracker, with ChangeUp handling which designee is handling a particular game behind the scenes.
How are rosters entered?
Ease of use is one of our guiding principles. ChangeUp allows you to upload your team roster (and schedule) directly in the mobile application or on the ChangeUp web site. We support modern drag & drop capabilities, and are working on additional convenience features like direct integrations with leading baseball applications and the ability to simply email rosters and schedules to a ChangeUp email address, and voilà, your information is automagically in the application.
Roster changes happen, so coaches can always add/edit/remove players on the fly directly within ChangeUp.
What happens if I make a mistake entering pitch counts?
Mistakes happen, especially when you are caught up in the excitement of a game. Pitch counts can easily be edited within the ChangeUp application or web site at any time in case you missed a pitch or two. Additionally should you forget your phone or your battery dies during a game pitch counts can always be entered after the fact.
What about tracking bullpen or side throwing sessions?
At ChangeUp we believe that every pitch counts when considering the health and well-being of athletes, so bullpen and side throwing sessions can be tracked within the application. By default these optional sessions do not count when determining required days of rest and eligibility, yet can be viewed in historical reports helping to show a complete picture of pitching activity.
How are schedules added to ChangeUp?
Ease of use is one of our guiding principles. ChangeUp allows you to upload team schedules (and rosters) directly in the mobile application or on the ChangeUp web site. We support modern drag & drop capabilities, and are working on additional convenience features like direct integrations with leading baseball applications and the ability to simply email rosters and schedules to a ChangeUp email address, and voilà, your information is automagically in the application.
Because rainouts and cancellations happen, coaches can always add/edit/remove games on the fly directly within ChangeUp.
What happens if I try to create a pitcher that is already in ChangeUp?
We’ve thought a lot about this potential problem, and while the possibility of a player residing the application multiple times certainly exists, ChangeUp analyzes each player that is entered into the system using sophisticated matching algorithms and when potential duplicates are identified presents the user with a simple, intuitive, easy-to-use interface to match and merge accounts when necessary.
Additionally ChangeUp automatically runs its matching algorithms on a regular, recurring basis to identify any potential duplicate players in the system and ChangeUp team members work with coaches and families alike to resolve any issues.
Do I have to register with ChangeUp in order to use it?
Technically no, as anyone can use ChangeUp as an in-game pitch count application, however you will need to have a ChangeUp account to take advantage of the many powerful features that ChangeUp offers like cross-team pitch session & required days of rest tracking and managing pitching rotations against schedules. We realize that keeping track of user IDs and passwords in today’s technology-driven world can be challenging (and most people won’t want to carry sticky notes to the ballpark), so we’ve enabled security integration with common, everyday applications such as Google and Facebook to help simplify logging in. We also support those fancy fingerprint-compatible devices too.
What if I forget my phone, my battery dies, or I don’t have a signal during a game?
No problem. ChangeUp saves pitch counts along the way, and once your phone or mobile device is active again you can manually add or edit pitch counts via the ChangeUp application or web site. ChangeUp will also allow you to track pitches offline and will sync up with the front office once online.
How much does ChangeUp cost?
ChangeUp is a pay-as-you-go offering, meaning you can pay by game, season or tournament event, with varying subscription levels based on the number of teams and games within your organization or event. Please Contact Us for a pricing estimate tailored to your needs.
